A very decent and special person

In common with other heartfelt tributes to Graham, I too, well remember idyllic childhood summer days afloat on his yacht in Poole Harbour, including the time when, with chivalry, he broke an oar trying to ferry my younger sister back to shore so she could answer 'the call of nature.' I also recall the numerous occasions he gave up his time to help my father decorate houses we would move to; effectively, he became one of the family.

As an adult, I was to see much less of Graham but, when in later years, I did meet up with him I was always struck by how little he had changed. He never became a stranger but remained the familiar: kindly, affable and supportive character who even with age retained a youthful sense of fun. In short, he was just good company to have around.

I think it was because of his consistent nature that I came to half believe that he would go on for ever; so, I was all the more saddened to learn of his death. I will, though, always remember him with great affection.

RIP Graham
